“How often do you change your contact lenses?” I ask it to every contact lens patient when they come for their yearly exam. I don’t ask this question just to sell more contact lenses, and I certainly don’t ask just to lecture people. The reason I ask is to make sure all of my contact lens wearing patients get the maximum performance from their lenses.
I’m not going to take the time to explain the semantics of what changes happen to your contact lenses as you wear them because the video below explains it very well… and its kind of cute.
Just remember: there are a lot of contact lenses at our disposal and part of my job is to find the right lens that not only gives great vision and is comfortable, but also fits your lifestyle. I regularly prescribe contact lenses that can be replaced every week or every month. Don’t like to clean your contact lenses? Great! There are several brands you can throw away daily. Don’t like having to take out your lenses every night? We have lenses that are FDA approved to sleep in. I think you get the idea.
So take two minutes to watch the video below and see why changing your lenses regularly is important. Then at your next eye exam I want you tell me what you love and what you don’t love about your current contact lenses.
